A PUBLIC consultation on the closure of two Darlington post offices ended yesterday.

Residents reacted with dismay last month after Post Office Limited suggested shutting the Faverdale and North End branches before the end of the year.

The postmasters at both branches have agreed to the closures, but ward councillors said local people were against the idea.

A Post Office spokesman said five letters had been received about Faverdale and 21 about North End.

He said a decision on the future of both would be taken in two to three weeks.
