A SERVICE will be held today to mark the reopening of a refurbished church.
Haughton Methodist Church was shut for four months during the £125,000 refurbishment, which has included building an extension to provide a meeting room, kitchen and disabled toilets.
The work has been paid for with the sale of its community building, Archway House.
The Reverend Graham Morgan, said: "Instead of being under two roofs, we only have one to maintain now. I'm absolutely thrilled with it and hopefully we will grow from here."
He said the church had previously only been used on Sundays, but there were plans to make the building available to the community, and to have fellowship and worship meetings during the week.
Tonight's rededication service is by invitation, but tomorrow the church will be open for refreshments and viewing from 10am to 4pm. Services resume on Sunday at 10.30am and will include a baptism and Holy Communion.
