The Under-10s B were up against Teesside Athletic and had a good start to the game, especially in midfield where Jason Howell and George Austick battled hard.
On nearing half time Brompton made two silly errors which Teesside took advantage of to go in 2-0 at half time. The second half saw Teesside take control of the game. Brompton tried to compete but Athletic scored four goals to finish the game 6-0 winners.
In a tight match against Whinney Banks B, Brompton Under-10s' Joe Richards started in goal for the first time with the solid back pairing of David Holmes and Robert Maclean in front of him. The first half was characterised by a host of chances for Brompton, bouncing off post or bar as in turn Mark Watkinson, Tom Armstrong and Daniel Macfarlane peppered the Whinney Banks' goal. Chris Holmes, solid again in the centre of midfield, kept the game moving forwards as Brompton dominated possession for most of the first half. A half-time score of 0-0 was scant reward for all the attacking zeal of Brompton.
Brompton started the second half with David Foster replacing Tom Armstrong and continued as they left off with a shot from Mark Watkinson saved by the Whinney Banks' goalkeeper who was perhaps Whinney Banks man of the match. Whinney Banks scored their first goal from a massive goal kick bouncing over the Brompton defence and being slotted home. The second goal came as Brompton defended a rare Whinney Banks attack with David Holmes playing the ball out of defence past three Whinney Banks' strikers and unluckily miskicking his final clearance as his left foot slid away from him as a divot from the ground gave way. David Holmes went off injured at this point with a twisted ankle and was replaced by Jack Cullen.
The game ended 2-0 to Whinney Banks, a first league defeat for Brompton Under-10 A team this season.
Brompton Under-16s, playing down a slight slope at Barnard Castle, started well and after two minutes a Rose free-kick ended up with Glahome shooting over. Minutes later Brockhurst found himself free on goal but the Barnard goalkeeper pulled off a fine save.
Barnard then seemed to settle and caused the locals a few problems before Brompton eventually grabbed the lead with a Marley free kick landing at Cornfoot's feet and he just managed to steer the ball home.
Having got the goal they probably deserved Brompton started to play more fluent football and a neat move between Dawson and Brockhurst ended with Dawson firing into the side netting. Brockhurst almost got a second when chasing a long ball and beating both defender and goalkeeper to it only to also hit the side netting.
After the break Barnard got an equaliser after the reliable Pinkney saw a ricochet end up falling between Robinson in goal and the forwards feet. Robinson correctly made the dash out and made the centre forward miscue his effort however the supporting Barnard player beat Adamson to the ball to hit the net.
It got worse for Brompton as slack defending and a lack of co-ordination allowed Barnard Castle to snatch the lead and the game.
Fortunately a James Rose free kick found McNicholas in the box and he managed to steer the ball into the top corner for a deserved equaliser.
Glahome convincingly took the man of the match award with Marley runner up but both Brockhurst and Cornfoot were also effective in a decent game.
