Darlington RA Juniors played local rivals Spraire at home in the league cup in front of a big crowd. The RA started the better team, quickly going into a 2-0 lead with good finishes from Jack Ridley and strike partner Tom Watson. The game changed when Shaun Harrison, in goal for the RA, made an uncharacteristic error dropping the ball for Spraire to tap in from three yards.
The RA never recovered showing little fight to a team that tried harder. Although Jack Ridley scored his second from the spot the final score of 6-3 was just about what the RA deserved, no man of the match was awarded but Craig Hancock in midfield showed tremendous courage in playing on with a bad injury.
