STUDENTS had the chance to work with professional dancers who visited Richmond School for a day.
The County Dance Group, which began a tour of North Yorkshire in the town, gave two performances at the school on Monday, watched by youngsters from Richmond Methodist and Church of England schools and primaries in Reeth, Arkengarthdale and Middleton Tyas.
Some of the year six pupils were then put through their paces in a series of dance masterclasses led by members of the company. Dance is featuring more and more highly in the school curriculum, particularly since the school won performing arts specialist status this year.
Richard Jones, director of performing arts, said dance sessions for boys had begun recently.
"We are employing a professional male dancer to take the boys for one of their periods of PE," he said.
A lunchtime dance club was also planned, along with the chance for students to take GCSE dance.
