In an all league affair, Pelton Crown Inn played league Gateshead Black Bull and won 3-2.
Black Bull took the lead with a Del Swift own goal but the Crown hit back with goals from Steven Hall, Gavin Brown and Mark Lyall before the Bull responded again, to no avail, with a late James Janson penalty.
Felling Mulberry played Thornley Officials, who they knocked out of last season's competition.
But this time Thornley gained their revenge 5-1 margin, with the Felling effort an own goal. Injury-ravaged Stanley RAFA were away to Shildon Elm Road and lost 4-0 while South Moor Sports took on Ferryhill Black Bull and ran out 4-1 winners.
