STANLEY CENTRAL are through to the semi-final of the Division One League Cup - the Harkness Trophy - after recording their best win of the season.
They came up against league leaders Lanchester Social who went into the tie as odds-on favourites after previously being unbeaten in all domestic competitions this season.
But despite a double-salvo from Lee McVittie, the village side found themselves shot down by the Central who discovered marksmen in Kevin Rainbow and the impressive two-goal Richard Little as they won by the odd goal in five.
Burnhope Ivy Leaf, Burgoynes, Scotch Arms and Ball Alley have all progressed to the last four of the Iveson Bowl.
In the competition for Third Division clubs, Anthony Coleman netted twice for Burnhope, who saw off Hat & Feather 5-2 who replied with a Simon Rice double while Ball Alley were 7-2 winners over Horse & Groom. Lee Finlay also netted a couple as Burgoynes won 8-0 at Delves while the Scotch Arms were 8-2 winners at home to Hamsteels. There was double-trouble for Hamsteels as brothers Kieron and Dean Laddie along with John Moody all scored twice and there were also two own goals.
Shafto's came out on 4-2 after extra-time at the Highwayman in the Abbey Trophy despite two goals from Gavin Rowell.
Also through in the Second Division competition are Black Horse - 2-0 winners at the Smiths Arms.
Consett Charity Cup
Despite a dramatic last gasp equaliser, Annfield Plain Demi found themselves in a spot of bother to send them crashing out of the Consett Charity Cup.
Lee Rainbow and Andrew Taylor goals did not look enough for the Demi when they trailed 3-2in the dying seconds to the Steel Club.
In a last throw of the dice, veteran Scott Lawson pitched into the fray and the supersub responded with an equaliser. However, his efforts were in vain as there were no further goals in extra-time and the Steel Club won the penalty shootout 4-3.
Also through to the third round are the Bute Arms who were also involved in a close encounter before edging out the Duke of Wellington by the odd goal in nine.
In the battle of the cricket clubs, Lintz cruised to a 7-2 win over Annfield Plain with both Gary Johnson and Micky Edmunds landing doubles.
North West Durham Charity Cup
LEADGATE Golden Lion were in glittering form when they progressed with a 5-0 win over the Barley Mow Inn. Ian Davidson struck two of those goals with the others netted Mark Turner, Gary Taylor and John Dettmar.
Second Division Oxhill Central produced a battling display against high-flying Gateshead League side Allerdene before losing to a solitary strike. Also out are Station Ex Juniors who were beaten 5-2 by Washington Victoria despite goals from Paul McCourt and Carl Muirhead. Low Fell Jolly Miller saw their run come to an end when lost 3-0 at home to Burton House.
