Ferryhill Greyhound continued to lead the Premier Division winning 4-1 at home against Owton Manor.
The first half ended goalless and the restart saw Manor take the lead, but it was short lived as Ferryhill stormed back and levelled. From then on they took command of the game, Stan Cummings notched a brace and Willie Taylor scored one before latest signing Alan Shoulder came on and scored to make it 4-1 and settled Greyhound's favour.
Norton-Stockton found true form defeating Darlington Croft 7-1 at home and leading 5-0 at the break. Scorers were Bobby Hatfield (4), Gerry Forrest, Keith Corner and Davy Barclay one apiece.
In Division One Glaxo move into third spot winning 8-0 at home against Hartlepool Catholic. Pool were 0-4 down and attacking football paid off with marksmen Kevin Hodgson a hat-trick, Nookie Proud (2), Alan Gates, Geoff Bannister and Gary Hutchinson one apiece.
Consett Duke of Wellington stay second playing well to defeat Grindon Broadway 2-1 away from home.
In Division Two Wynyard Vets defeated Willow Pond 5-3 away from home. Pond opened in devastating style dominating most of the first half and after 25 minutes were 3-0 up courtesy Gary Evans (2) and Reuben Gibson. On half-time Wynyard pulled one back through Clark. The restart saw the format change and it was the visitors who took control but the brilliance of Pond's keeper was all that kept the score down. Clark scored two more to complete his hat-trick and Peter Boldison notched a brace for Wynyard to finish 5-3 winners after a splendid second half recovery.
Langley Park Rams Head, tipped for promotion, drew 1-1 at home to Hylton Castle. The first half was slow and finished 0-0, the restart saw Hylton Castle take the lead. Rams woke up and in a fight back drew level courtesy of Chatterton. Hylton were under pressure, Michael Hughes saw his shots hit the post and bar and one cleared and it was the same for Chatterton and Hylton managed to play out and share the points.
In Division Three Crook Town won 3-2 against Houghton Mill Inn. Crook are a promotion prospect and led throughout the game. The Rams scorers were David Newton, Robinson and midfielder Kevin Smith.
West Cornforth continued with a winning run defeating British Telecom 1-0 with Tony Roe scoring the winner.
In Division Four Wynyard Old Boys won 3-1 away from home defeating second placed Sunderland side Steels FC. Old Boys took the lead after ten minutes but Steels equalised before half-time. In the second half Old Boys gave as good as they got and scored two further goals to win 3-1. Steels were slow to clear their lines preferring to dribble the ball to safety and the ability of Old Boys to dispossess them won them the match.
