LEYBURN'S extremely successful Festival of Food and Drink will be mainly based in the auction mart during next year's May Day Bank Holiday weekend, the organisers announced yesterday.
"There will be no marquees in the market place and the impact upon car parking in Leyburn will be marginal," said Gerald Hodgson on behalf of the steering group.
"The theatre marquee will be at one end of the district council's car park to encourage people to come down from the mart and then on into the market place."
One section of the district council's car park will be retained for Richmondshire District Council parking permit holders and another will be reserved for fire station personnel. The theatre marquee will be erected in that car park on the Thursday, but leaving more than 100 spaces there until the Friday evening.
The main centre of attraction, the food hall, will be located in a 13,000sq ft marquee in the auction mart grounds.
