AN ARTIST who is helping to revive a medieval art form is displaying his work at a gallery this week.
Julian Chapman is exhibiting 20 of his works Batik style, which has recently found favour with interior designers.
His art features scenes from Middle-Age manuscripts, created by painting with hot wax onto material. As the wax cracks, the fissures are filled with dye, which give the pictures. The wax is removed once the painting is complete.
The work is on display at the Glass and Art Gallery, Medomsley Road, Consett, until the end of October.
