WEARDALE residents are being recruited for an Expert Patient programme starting next month.
The Durham Dales Primary Care Trust is launching a third course in Stanhope following the success of schemes in Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle.
The programme will run for six weeks and complement medical treatments. Benefits include a reduction in symptoms, less pain, greater self-confidence and a better quality of life.
Topics include finding information, making action plans, pain management, communicating with health professionals and coping with depression.
Volunteers who have long- term medical conditions, including arthritis, asthma, back pain, heart conditions, multiple sclerosis and mental health issues, share their experiences with other sufferers.
