PLANS to build a house to fund the restoration of a Grade-II listed terrace are likely to be approved by councillors on Wednesday.
Elizabeth Armstrong, owner of Harewood Grove, off Grange Road, Darlington, has submitted plans for a two-storey house in the grounds of the 19th Century terrace, which is divided into flats.
The original plan, for two homes, was revised after objections from English Heritage and thirteen residents.
English Heritage has now withdrawn its objection.
Harewood Grove has become dilapidated in recent years, and several notices have been served on the owner by Darlington Borough Council.
Most of the work has been completed, but the building needs long-term maintenance, which it is hoped the new house will fund.
Council officers are recommending approval of the plan, subject to a financial contribution from the owner towards renovation.
