OWNERS of a nightclub are expected to have their licence renewed after dealing with concerns about violence and under-age drinking..
The application for renewal has come from Luminar Leisure, owners of Jumpin Jaks, in Middlesbrough's former Odeon cinema.
Cleveland Police had expressed "grave concerns" about violent incidents linked to the premises.
Officers were also worried about under-age drinking at the establishment.
Manager Benjamin Smalley was brought in to run Jumpin Jaks and members of Middlesbrough Council's licensing committee are recommending a renewal of the licence until April next year.
There would be a string of conditions regarding noise management and an insistence that an entry charge is levied.
A report being put before councillors today states: "Officers can advise that the premises have been monitored and they have not experienced any of the problems which were at one time associated with Jumpin Jaks.''
The 1930s Odeon closed down two years ago, a victim of competition from an 11-screen UCG cinema which opened nearby.
