THE North-East father of a soldier who died in mysterious circumstances at Deepcut Army Barracks has vowed to continue his campaign after being told the investigation into his death had finished.

Geoff Gray, who lives in London but is from Seaham, County Durham, said he would appeal after a coroner ruled there would be no new inquest.

His son, also Geoff, died from gunshot wounds at the Surrey barracks in September 2001.

An inquest at the time recorded an open verdict but, earlier this year, an independent ballistics expert contradicted police evidence and suggested there could be suspicious circumstances.

Mr Gray said: "This decision is a body blow. We will have to appeal to the High Court to overturn it."

His son was one of four young soldiers who died in suspicious circumstances at the barracks.
