A WOMAN has fulfilled her life-long ambition to make it in a traditionally male-dominated workplace.
Jennifer Burton, from Billingham, Teesside, had always dreamed of being a trucker.
She left Manor College of Technology, in Hartlepool, when she was 16 and went on to train to be an accountant, but her burning desire to obtain an HGV licence would not leave her.
Now 26, she has fulfilled her ambition.
In March, she attended a Transport Sector Group Exhibition at the Riverside Stadium, in Middlesbrough, and City Centre Training transport manager Terry Brooks spoke to her about gaining a Category C driver training qualification.
In July, she embarked on the training course with City Centre Training, and passed earlier this month.
She has secured a position at Brake Brothers, in Peterlee, County Durham, where she will use her HGV licence in her new post.
She will be delivering to the catering industry across the North-East, from the Scottish Borders to Yorkshire.
