History Project: Howden-le-Wear Local History Society has been awarded a £400 grant from the South Church Educational Funds.
The money will be used to organise a history project that will focus on life in the village during Victorian Times. Activities which will involve the local school and the community will take place throughout the week, starting on Monday, November 24.
The next meeting of the society is tomorrow, at 7pm, in the community centre, when the group will hear a talk on the Weardale Heritage Line.
The cost is £1.50 for non-members.
Job Hunting: Careers Service staff will be at Crook Library on Monday, November 3, to Friday November 7, from 9.30am to noon, and 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Job Search Software will be available, as well as information on education and training.

Jumble Sale: Crook Methodist Church is holding a jumble sale on Saturday, at 9.30am.
Story time: Eileen Glenton will be telling stories to children under five at Crook Library on Monday, October 27, from 2pm to 3pm.
