A VILLAGE turned out in force at the weekend to celebrate the success of four years of fundraising.
Sowerby can boast a bigger and better nursery thanks to a £20,000 boost from the local community which has paid for an extension.
The new block was officially launched on Saturday and includes an office, toilets and facilities for the disabled. It was paid for through coffee mornings, raffles, fun runs and other money-spinning events.
Nursery spokesman Polly Crook said: "It means the teachers' desk can be moved out of the playroom, giving the children more space, while staff now have somewhere to meet visitors away from the rest of the nursery.
"We also have some loos for adults and some facilities for those with special needs, which allows us to cater for a wider range of children.''
The nursery welcomed back founders from 31 years ago for the ceremony as well as other former staff.
