A town famous for its links with the past can look to a brighter future with the help of a new facility.
Thirsk is proud of its association with the stories of Yorkshire vet James Herriot, but the £110,000 East Thirsk Community Learning Resource Centre brings the town up-to-date with the latest technology, which is now available to all.
David Harbourne, executive director of the Learning and Skills Council North Yorkshire, performed the opening ceremony at the premises.
The facilities, off Hambleton Road, include 14 computers and an interactive whiteboard, paid for through grants from development agency Yorkshire Forward, the East Thirsk Community Association, Hambleton District Council and Thirsk Regeneration Initiative.
Anyone interested in visitng the centre is invited to an open day on Saturday, November 15.
People will also be invited to have their say on what courses they would like to see on offer at the centre.
