YOUNG people have written, produced and starred in their own film, which is being premiered next month.
The final touches to the 25 minute film, called Soul Boredom, are under way ahead of its first screening, which will be open to the public.
The project began in February, ahead of the opening of the Ladder Centre, a community house in Ferryhill.
Young people attended a meeting with Connexions County Durham, who agreed to provide funding for the film.
Sandy Denney, community development worker at the Ladder Centre, said: "The young people have been involved in every aspect of it all the way.
"They came up with their own story and have done the lighting, behind the scenes work, health and safety, filming it and, of course, taken the starring roles.
"They have worked really hard on it and everybody gave up a lot of time because they were so enthusiastic about it."
The film follows the story of young people who help rid the world of a boredom virus.
It will be shown for the first time at Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College on Tuesday, November 4, at 7pm.
There will also be a short film featuring Ferryhill folk talking about what it is like to live in the town.
