BAKERY chain Greggs put the effects of soaring summer temperatures behind it with sales growth picking up and action taken to tackle higher flour prices.
The group, which has more than 1,200 branches across the UK, revealed in August that sales growth had slowed as shoppers shunned hot pies and pastries in favour of ice creams and cold meals.
But it said yesterday that like-for-like sales growth had risen to two per cent during the past ten weeks from only 1.5 per cent in the seven weeks to August 2 with an "improving trend" more recently.
Greggs has opened 14 branches so far this year.
