Darlington loan star Alan Morgan is enjoying a new lease of life at the Reynolds Arena but an improvement in results will improve his stay, according to boss Mick Tait.
The Edinburgh-born winger, signed on a month's loan from Blackburn Rovers a fortnight ago, claimed his first competitive goal in professional football in Tuesday night's fourth straight League defeat at Cheltenham.
Tait has been pleased with the youngster's step-up from reserve team to League football.
"Alan has been playing a lot of reserve team football and there's a hell a lot of difference between that and first-team football," said Tait.
"It's a lot more physical and strenuous but he's adapted to it as he showed at Cheltenham. He worked very hard.
"He's enjoying it here apart from the results, but none of us are enjoying the results."
The Quakers boss will be hoping for a change in fortunes when Bury are the visitors to the Reynolds Arena on Saturday.
Tait was pleased with the approach of his players on Tuesday night, but not for the first time this season he was left to bemoan defensive errors.
"I couldn't fault the lads for their work-rate and attitude the other night because it was spot on," said Tait.
"We've made too many mistakes and that's what has let us down in games."
Danny Mellanby is a major doubt for Quakers at the weekend after he suffered a recurrence of a back injury at Whaddon Road.
Neil Maddison is also struggling to be fit with a thigh strain.
The club will not be following up their interest in former Middlesbrough midfielder Keith O'Halloran. The 27-year-old has been on trial but with Barry Conlon ruled out until December, Tait has switched his attentions to bringing in a striker.
l Despite taking an early lead, Darlington Reserves lost at home to York City last night.
After good work by Mark Convery, Ashley Nicholls drilled a shot past former Quakers keeper, Chris Porter, who moved to Bootham Crescent in the summer.
But the visitors came back to win the game 2-1.
Darlington: Molyneux, Morley, Mason, Bossy, Smith, Collins, Convery, Coughlan, Sheeran, Nicholls, Hughes.
