Consett Sunday League: Revenge was sweet for Division One leaders Lanchester Social when they made up for their Harkness Cup set back at the hands of Stanley Central.
Just a week earlier the Central enjoyed their cup win, but the tables were turned in the league with unbeaten Lanchester calling the shots in a 5-3 win. Richard Pitt scored twice along with Phil Raisbeck, Lee McVittie and Richard Joyce with the Central replying through two goal Kevin Rainbow and Richard Little. Lanchester are now three points clear of Blackhall Comrades and still have a game in hand over their rivals. Goals from Brian Marsland and Ryan Stokoe steered Black Horse to a 2-1 Division Two win at Annfield Plain Demi who scored through Andrew Taylor.
In the Third Division, Burgoynes dropped their first points after eight successive wins. They did so after a 2-2 draw with closest rivals Delves United despite goals from Scott Revell and David Nicholson.
Consett League Cups
LEE Innes has been in devastating form recently with goals galore in all competitions. Station ex-Juniors were the latest side to suffer at the hands of the former Sheffield United player in the First Division competition - the Harkness Trophy.
Innes struck five times against the shell-shocked Station and Paul Clark got another in the 6-2 away win that saw Jamie Routledge reply with both home side consolation goals.
In the Abbey Trophy - for Second Division sides - Annfield Plain Plainsman are through to the semi-finals after a hard-earned 3-2 win at the Cricketers.
Consett Charity Cup
There were goals galore in the second round encounter at Shafto's where a great individual display from Paul Liddell, just won the day against Oxhill Central. Liddell powered in four and David Hatton and Gary Fazakerley the other two as Shafto's ran out 6-4 winners with Chris Suggett (2), Wayne Thompson and Jamie Green replying for Oxhill.
Leading scorer Gavin Rowell was another four-goal hitman as Highwayman won a 12-goal thriller at Hamsteels. Chris Tiffin scored two more in the 8-4 win that saw Steve Hutchinson with two goals.
Chopwell beat the Smiths Arms 6-1 while there was also success for Smelters Arms in the first round as they beat the Cronniwell 4-2. Micky Avery and Stephen Smith goals were in vain as both Shaun Campbell and Keith Elliott responded with two goals each.
Jack Grigg Memorial Cup
There was derby delight for the Hat & Feather when they hit neighbours Medomsley Miners Arms for six.
Duncan Meads led the way with a couple of goals in the 6-2 away win with the others coming from Mark Shaw, Stephen Alderson, Jason McCrandle and Jason Howe. Ian Bell and Darren Clark hit back for the Miners. The Top Club hit double figures and enjoyed a 10-5 win at the Duke of Wellington.
Lintz Cricket Club midfielder Wayne Murray was twice on target in a 5-1 home success over the Bute Arms. Mark Benson, Micky Edmunds and Gavin Johnson also scored with Darren Rowcroft replying.
* In the Durham County Sunday Cup, Stateside and Leadgate Golden Lion were both amongst the goals with some style as they reached the third qualifying round of the Durham Sunday Cup.
Free-scoring Stateside smashed Bishop Auckland Coat Arms for six in an excellent team display.
It ended up 6-2 with Darren Watson scoring twice along with Thomas Bushby, Chris Connolly, Andrew Elliott and Paul Jobes.
The Golden Lion were not far behind in the scoring stages when they went nap against Hartlepool Old Boys. John Turner's two-goal salvo helped fire the Lion on their way to the 5-1 success with Gary Taylor, John Berry and Daniel Craggs also on target.
Second Division Burton House came close to joining Stateside and the Golden Lion in the next round only to lose by the odd goal in five at Hartlepool West Park.
