THE student who was crushed by a runaway council van has undergone more surgery.
Ursula Billington, 18, was left fighting for her life after she was pinned against a wall by the van as it rolled down Owengate, near Durham Cathedral, two weeks ago.
The fresher, from Derby, had only been in the city for a few days after starting a psychology course at the city's university.
Her parents, Arthur and Penny, are keeping a vigil at her bedside.
Miss Billington suffered severe internal injuries and underwent surgery at Durham's University. But she needed another operation after her condition worsened at the weekend.
A spokesman for Durham police said her condition was now once again stable and improving.
The force's accident investigation unit is still looking into the incident, which involved a Durham City Council van.
A spokesman said officers were currently talking to people who had been in Owengate at the time.
