Brompton Juniors: Having lost undeservedly 4-1 at home to the Allstars while missing four players on a rugby tour, Brompton started second favourites for their latest game against the 21st Allstars.
That said, the confidence of the players never slacked and they started well, pressing forward down the slope.
From a corner Carson was unlucky to see his header drift wide. Carson then played in Dawson who was unfortunate to see his scuffed effort cleared. The game was very much end to end but there were no clear chances for either side although Robinson did well to tip an Allstars free kick over the bar and Marley had a free kick headed off the line but at half time it remained 0-0.
Adamson replaced James Marley at half time and this released captain Brockhurst in to his more familiar forward role. Birthday boy Mark Cook released Brockhurst on goal and his shot just evaded the keeper and gave Brompton the lead.
Two minutes later the effective Rose slotted over a great cross only for Dawson to volley wide but Brompton definitely had the bit between their teeth although the Allstars aggression started to come to the fore.
It was a good game with Allstars pushing for an equaliser and Brompton countering on the break. Henderson and Adamson stood firm at the back against Sam the Man and after 70 minutes Brockhurst broke free and crossed for substitute Eddleston to fire home a Brompton second goal that sealed the game.
In a very good team performance Henderson took man of the match for sticking to his task and keeping the Allstars at bay while Dawson was runner up for his industry. This was a good game for Brompton with all 16 players playing their part and the manager was very satisfied with the effort.
Brompton Under-10s B started against New Marske at a high tempo, immediately pushing forward. The team fought hard to gain possession attacking at every opportunity. Oliver Lowther took the ball from midfield running at the Marske defence, beating several players before hitting a left foot shot into the goal. Marske began to push forward looking for an equaliser. A well struck shot was well saved by Brompton keeper Joe Blades but Marske were first to the ball to even the score 1-1 at half time. The second half saw Brompton pushing forward with Austic and Howell pivotal in midfield. Brompton got the goal they deserved with a lovely run from George Austick who finished well to beat the keeper. Marske again pushed forward but were denied by stout defending especially by Edward Donne who was outstanding. Overall a good team performance, final score 2-1 to Brompton.
In a rain-lashed match Brompton Under-10 A gave New Marske B one of their best performances of the season. Within the first two minutes full-back David Holmes hit the New Marske post with a shot from the edge of the box. Robert Maclean made a penetrating run down the right crossing just as he reached the line and the ball was just put out by the Marske defence. This was shortly followed by Chris Holmes collecting the ball in mid-field making a defence-splitting pass to Daniel Macfarlane who shot from the edge of the box only to see the ball skim the top of the bar. The match was taking shape as in previous weeks with Brompton pressing numerous attacks, but failing to convert their advantage into goals. Towards the end of the first half Chris Holmes took a magnificent in-swinging corner to score inside the near post to send Brompton in 1-0 up at half-time.
The second half began with a double substitution - Joe Richards replacing Lee Taylor in goal, who once again had kept a clean sheet, and David Foster replacing Daniel Macfarlane. Early in the second half Brompton midfielder, Chris Holmes, was brought down just outside the box. Mark Watkinson scored from a magnificent free kick powering the ball through the keeper's hands. This was followed up a few minutes later with another goal from Watkinson after a through ball from Chris Holmes putting him clear to shoot under the goalkeeper's body. The double goal-scorer was replaced at this point by Daniel Hills who made an impressive debut in the last ten minutes. Brompton continued to attack freely and secured their fourth goal when Thomas Armstrong brought the ball in from the left, shot into the keeper's body, but followed up effectively tapping in the rebound. Full-time score was 4-0 to Brompton.
Coxhoe Boys
The Under-15s played outstandingly well but were unable to overcome a strong Boldon Colts side in the Russell Foster Youth League Cup.
Boldon are unbeaten in two and a half years but despite this Coxhoe put in another good performance although strikers, Michael Owens and John Dodd, both put in below par performances.
However, goalkeeper, Tom Orton, excelled. Tom, who is nearly two years younger than his teammates, pulled-off five great saves but was unable to do anything about any of the four goals Boldon scored.
Coxhoe don't have a game this weekend but are at Shildon the weekend after and following that face Town Castle Rovers who, like Coxhoe, remained unbeaten in the League.
Stockton Town
Stockton Under-10s played against Newton Aycliffe Sports Club C and both teams started brightly however Stockton dominated the early possession. In the second half Stockton introduced substitutes Everson and Dowson and this ensured that the attacking impetus remained with the Home Team. Stockton's endeavour was rewarded early in the second half with a superb strike from Shayn Duck, lobbing the keeper from all of 20 yards.
Newton Aycliffe tried their best however the Stockton defence were rarely troubled.
Thirsk Falcons
Thirsk Falcons Under-12s had their third match of the season travelling to Darlington Albion. Thirsk started well and within minutes had a corner which Albion cleared only as far as a Thirsk defender whose shot was straight at the keeper. Albion went on the attack but Thirsk's midfield broke it down and with some good passing Joe Barwick received the ball and blasted it into the net passed the keeper's outstretched hand.
Then followed a period of pressure by Albion after four attacks into Thirsk's area Albion scored their equaliser. Thirsk pressed again but Albion on the counter scored their second. Albion with a high lob added a third, Thirsk got a free-kick but it went straight to the keeper, Albion led 3-1 at half time.
The second half saw the weather brighten as did Thirsk turning up the pressure with some good efforts on goal. Then another free-kick but Thirsk couldn't get the ball into the net. Then Albion had a shot which Thirsk's keeper tipped over the bar and the following corner was cleared as far as an Albion player whose effort hit the crossbar.
Albion were awarded a penalty but they failed to convert it, Thirsk piled on the pressure on in the last few minutes but couldn't score again. Man of the match for the second successive week went to Joe Barwick, Thirsk's defence had a good game despite losing especially Luke Williams and Steven Burrell and a good first game for Sam Keast.
