Tiny gudgeon were the highlight of anglers' nets for the Chester le Street Open on the Wear on Sunday.
Shiny Row man John Foster enjoyed a gudgeon explosion at his peg in the willows. A pole and maggot attack brought non stop action as John pulled out an amazing 372 in all for 16.1.0 at the scales.
Terry Guthrie of Shimano Quaker interrupted the gudgeon flow when his second place net consisted of three chub averaging 3.0.0 apiece plus bit on the stickfloat and maggot for 12.15.0 off peg 21.
The second fixture of the Yorkshire Winter League staged on the Ouse between Hunters Lodge Linton and Widdington was won off the noted Bungalow peg at Hunters Lodge.
Hirst Tackle's Steve Fearnley landed a brace of big bream to put him on his way. Fishing off peg 220 worm and caster cocktail in conjunction with groundbait feeder and caster tempted identical 'slabs' of 8.0.0 backed by roach for 18.14.0.
The perfect 'Hirst' day continued when teammate Steve Rapier below the willowgarrth connected with a bream of 7.1.0 adding roach to feeder and double caster for a runner up net of 10.10.8.

Anglers took to the prolific Woodland Lakes at Carlton Miniott for the second round of the North East Winter League and Diawa Cleveland rods wrapped up the proceedings not only winning on the day but filling the top three individual places.
Mark Coyne led the Diawa onslaught bagging 71.8.0 off Skylark Lake's peg 13 as pole and sweetcorn brought 17 quality carp followed by Rob Morgan on peg 31 who poled his way to 53.1.0 of carp from Simon Medd 45.4.0.
