The nip and tuck race for supremacy in Division One shows no sign of letting up.

While North Leeds top-of-the-table side Adel have taken a six point lead over nearest rivals Chapel Allerton following their 3-0 away win at Knaresborough the chasing pack is very close behind. In fact just four points separate the next four teams.

Adel lead the way on 50 points with four wins out of five. Then come Chapel Allerton, three wins from five, 44 points; Ilkley II four wins from five, 43 points; Harrogate Squash II three wins from five, 42 points; Chapel Allerton II, three wins from five, 41 points.

League secretary Dave Cockle says it's one of the closest starts to a season he can recall with none of the leading sides posting an unbeaten record this term.

Adel's 3-0 away win at Knaresborough netted them 12 points, their clean sweep being led by Mark Ambler who hit back to defeat James Lambley 7-9 9-2 9-3 9-6. Steve Glyn waltzed home 9-4 9-0 9-1 against John Evans while Jon Hodgson took 9-3 5-9 9-0 9-7 scorelines against Gary Hatch.

Chapel Allerton maintained their strong challenge with a 3-0 home win over Harlow.

Meanwhile, Harrogate Squash first team have lift off, taking their first win of the season, defeating Chapel Allerton II 2-1. Squash, champions last season, secured victory thanks to wins by Adam Nowakowski and Nicola Pratt. Nowakowski defeated Nick King 9-3 6-9 6-9 9-4 9-1.But the team's star performance came when Nicola Pratt saved match balls in the third game to secure victory after a battling comeback against Andrew Fotherby. Pratt took the match 2-9 2-9 10-8 9-0 9-1.

Stewart Macdonald suffered the lone defeat for Squash, going down 9-5 9-5 6-9 5-9 6-9 to Richard Milner.

Collingham's 2-1 victory against Nomads saw the home side's Anthony Kettlwell extend his unbeaten run to five matches this season.

The evergreen veteran defeated Joe Wilson 9-0 9-2 8-10 9-5 to maintain his 100 per cent start to the season.
