A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has won top prize for a mosaic detailing the life of Captain Cook.
Calum Henderson, of High Tunstall Secondary School, Hartlepool, was presented with his prizes by Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
The arts competition was organised by teacher recruitment agency Supply Desk and the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum in Middlesbrough.
Calum won a calendar featuring his artwork plus vouchers, money for his school's funds and a class trip to the museum.
Simon Trenholm, of Supply Desk, said: "The creativity and detail of Calum's mosaic of Captain Cook ensured that he stormed ahead to win first prize."
The competition - open to schools across Teessdie - marked the 275th anniversary of Cook's birth.
A selection of the artwork will be on display at the museum.
