STUDENTS at a Newton Aycliffe school have been testing their brain power by using a new super-learning technique.
During the past year, Woodham Community Technology College has run an out-of-school-hours learning club.
A small number of staff from the college have recently become Fellows of the University of the First Age, an initiative highlighting the importance of brain-based learning, recognising that everyone learns in different ways.
As an introduction to the already established out-of-hours club, each Year 7 tutor group has been invited to participate in a taster session using the techniques of University of the First Age through a series of super-learning sessions during the first half of the new term.
A spokeswoman for the school said: "The students have explored what is good for the brain and what is not and have discovered how to improve their memories and become super-learners"
The learning club is run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 3.45pm and 4.45pm, in the college's resources centre.
