FOUR men have been arrested in connection with a shooting in a North-East town earlier this year.
A 36-year-old man, who has not been named, was gunned down in Borrowdale Street, Hetton-le-Hole, on Wearside, at lunchtime on August 19.
Witnesses reported seeing a blue saloon car drive up the road and the gunman firing a single shot.
The bullet passed through the victim's body and hit another man standing nearby, who suffered a minor flesh wound.
The gunman's main target survived, but sustained a serious injury to his arm and is still recovering.
Police swooped in dawn raids on Wednesday at addresses in Easington Lane, Hetton-le-Hole and Washington.
Detectives separated the four men arrested and were last night questioning them at various police stations across Wearside.
Officers are still appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 0191-454 7555, extension 66515.
