A SURVEY published yesterday revealed that 97 per cent of people living in the Vale of York think more attention should be paid to the area's transport issues.
Constituency MP Anne McIntosh carried out the survey, published in the last edition of her Westminster Report.
About 150 people replied, 75 per cent of whom said some stretches of road needed to be looked at urgently, such as the Thirsk bypass and the York outer ring road, which many people thought should be a dual carriageway, and Whixley crossroads.
Only 29 per cent of respondents said they were generally happy with the public transport system in the Vale of York, although 81 per cent thought more should be done to encourage people to use buses and trains instead of cars.
Park and ride schemes were welcomed, with 71 per cent agreeing that the York system was a good thing.
Miss McIntosh, who is Shadow Transport Minister, said: "A majority of my constituents share my view that the Government should be doing far more to tackle the issues of rail, roads and congestion in North Yorkshire.
"Along with my Conservative colleagues at Westminster and on local and county councils, I will strive to ensure that the local transport issues are addressed at a local, national and regional level, not just in the Vale of York, but across the country."
