ONE of Darlington's main parks is to be the first in the town to get closed-circuit television (CCTV) surveillance.
From next week, a camera in Eastbourne Park will begin sending live pictures to the town hall CCTVcontrol room.
The Darlington Borough Council network, which has more than 90 cameras in the town centre, has had a big impact on crime reduction since its installation in 1994.
The siting of a camera in Eastbourne Park is the first step in a £120,000 project to make Darlington's parks and cemeteries safer.
Many had become targets for vandals and anti-social behaviour
