HUNDREDS of children helped to support the Breast Cancer Campaign yesterday by wearing something pink at school.
More than 700 youngsters at Branksome School, in Darlington, paid a donation to the charity and donned pink wigs, clothes and ribbons for the day.
Collectively, the 11 to 16-year-olds managed to raise almost £450, with each giving at least a 50p donation.
Year 11 students Cassie Ferguson, Nichola Robinson and Jenna McKenzie added £70 to the fund by collecting sponsorship for wearing pink pyjamas and dressing gowns.
The school's fundraising efforts towards breast cancer research came seven days in advance of national Wear it Pink day, on Friday, October 31, because of the half-term holiday next week.
Assistant headteacher, Pam Scott said: "Everyone really got into the spirit of things. Even the boys were wearing pink stripes in their hair or pink accessories."
