A VILLAGE community is invited to a fireworks display next week following the good response to last year's event.
Committee members at Annfield Plain Cricket Club were overwhelmed by the attendance at their first organised bonfire and fireworks display last November.
Staged at short notice and without any publicity, the display attracted a crowd in excess of 1,000 to the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League club's Enterprise Park ground.
Fireworks will be lit on Wednesday, November 5, but if the weather is poor it will take place the following evening.
Steve Sowden, one of the organising committee, said: "We hope to improve on last year's turn-out and we have lined up a 75-minute display of fireworks with background music.
"It's fully supervised and professionally-run, so people should have no fears about safety."
The bonfire will be lit at 7.15pm, with the first fireworks due to be set off at about 7.30pm.
Admission is £1 and there will be food and drinks available.
