A CHARITY cricket match has raised more than £1,500 for a woman battling a crippling disease.
Ann Teasdale, 42, had to have a leg amputated after contracting the rare condition Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome. She faced the possibility of losing her other leg until an appeal raised £30,000 for revolutionary treatment in the United States.
After learning that money was still needed for Mrs Teasdale's ongoing care, Security and access control specialist Cam-Tec, based at Heighington Lane Business Park, and bathroom equipment manufacturer Roman Limited, at Aycliffe Industrial Estate, organised a cricket challenge at Heighington Cricket Ground.
Local councillor and fund trustee Bill Blenkinsopp said the support Mrs Teasdale had received from the people and businesses of Aycliffe "continues to amaze us all."
