DURHAM University has appointed an expert to help regenerate Teesside.
Andy Cattermole will be based at Queen's Campus, in Stockton, where he will work with the university's research and economic development support service.
He aims to integrate the college with industry and the community. His work will also include identifying and developing projects in which the university can help.
He said: "I arrive at an interesting time as a number of projects involving the university, and its neighbours are in varying stages of development. I am beginning to meet with Tees Valley businesses and organisations to let them know about the strength and depth of the university's business-related work and transfer activities."
Mr Cattermole's appointment has been funded by regiional development One NorthEast through the Tees Valley Partnership.
Before joining Durham University Mr Cattermole was carrying out research for his doctorate at Newcastle University.
His main area of research was the role of the National Trust in rural development.
