A CHILDREN'S nursery owner has called on Sedgefield Borough Council to clarify which areas would be suitable for future facilities.
Christine Kellett is to appeal against the decision by the borough council to refuse her application for an extension to the Bright Buttons Nursery, in Fishburn.
A number of applications for nursery facilities in the borough have been turned down in recent months because of their unsuitable location, although some of the decisions have been reversed in recent weeks.
Mrs Kellett said: "I feel it would be of considerable benefit to the private day care sector if the local planning department at Sedgefield borough could make a statement advising us as to which areas would be acceptable venues for such development."
Sedgefield Borough Council spokesman Graham Robinson said: "We treat each application on its own merits, there are no designated areas - some sites are ideal and others are not.
"There is a local plan and wherever possible we try to apply the basics of the policies in there for each application."
