Licensees Ian Bell and Michelle Blythe, of The Green, Billy Row, Crook, were celebrating yesterday after being presented with an award for the best food in the country.
The competition was open to all InnSpired's 1,100 pubs that offer food.
Business development manager Matthew Stancliffe visited County Durham yesterday to present Mr Bell and Ms Blythe with £500 and a certificate.
Mr Bell said he and Ms Blythe had taken over the pub 15 months ago and had created a menu that offered a huge variety of food.
He said: "We take pride in our food here at and always ensure we provide a great choice of high quality dishes."
