PJS FC 7 Black Horse 0: Due to the Arthur Reed Shield Competition being played there was only one league game played.

Both sides currently languish near the bottom of the table and a must win for either club was a pre requisite. Black Horse FC struggled to get a full team out due to injuries and started with ten players.

The first half saw a very even game as Black Horse worked hard to make up for being one man down. However it was not long before PJS FC took the initiative when Michael Russell scored two goals in quick succession.

In the second half PJS FC dominated much of the play with some superb pace, running off the ball from man of the match Michael Russell and it wasn't long before he sealed his hat trick.

Martin Ball came into the side and made his mark on the game by scoring two goals. Macolm Puttick did well to make it 6-0 to the home side.

PJS FC established striker Andy Fixter had several chances to score but for good goal keeping from Paul Walters and poor finishing eventually added his name to the score sheet to make the final score 7-0.

Black Horse FC showed some great spirit during the game and never gave up the cause. Following the game Referee AM Tonge commended both teams, and spirit of the game as a 'credit to the league'.

Yorkshire OB Shield round two

Malet Lambert 1 St Mary's Coll OB 4

St Mary's College OB travelled to Hull for the second round of the Yorkshire Shield. Their opponents Malet Lambert were enjoying a good start to the season and currently second in their respective league. St Mary's forced to make changes from last weeks victory due to work commitments and injuries soon found their stride. Wally Kaid penetrating runs down the left were causing Malet problems and from one of his runs he delivered a perfect cross into the box that was anxiously scrambled away for a corner. From the resultant corner Wally Kaid evaded his marker and a strong shot was blocked on the line that spilled to Dave Aspery who was on hand to score from two yards. The second half St Mary's were forced to make two substitutions due to injury and the introduction of Dave Wesson and Tony McTaggart gave St Mary's extra strength and experience in midfield. St Mary's were being put under some pressure from the Hull side and against the run of play Wally Kaid was put through following an incisive pass from Tony McTaggart for him to go on one of his runs down the line and again delivering an inch perfect cross for Dave Aspery to score. St Mary's College were beginning to dominate, as Mark Elliott broke clear and beat the keeper with ease. Man of the match Wally Kaid once gain showed his marker a clean pair of heels before clipping the ball over the stranded keeper. St Mary's were coasting to victory but they spoilt their copybook when they conceded a penalty in the final ten minutes to give Malet a consolation goal. St Mary's College now move onto the quarter final stage of the competition.

Arthur Reed Memorial Shield sponsored by Leven Bridge Engineering Ltd - round one

Stokesley SC 0 M'brough PO 3

No real surprises in this game as Middlesbrough Post Office paved their way through to the next round. The game started at a fast pace with both teams missing chances in the early exchange. Post Office opened the scoring, following a short corner to Ian Pinchbeck who took the ball to the byline beating a Stokesley defender and crossed the ball for Stuart Rose to score from a great header. Post Office's second goal came from nowhere when David Mills knocked the ball forward over the Stokesley defence for John Leach to unleash a terrific volley into the net. The game was put beyond Stokesley's reach when David Mills went on a great run from the half way line beating a number of defenders and scoring from 25 yards.

South Park Rang 2 Thornaby Mand. 4

Not the greatest spectacle of games saw Thornaby Mandale go through to the next round with goals from Lee O'Toole, Damian O'Hara and top striker Andy Dyson (2). South Park Rangers could blame two defensive mix-ups before settling down into this game. With a 2-0 deficit Rangers began to attack Mandale with Graeme Watson spearheading the attack. Graeme Watson on a great run unsure to pass or shoot from 40 yards decided to hit a remarkable shot that gave keeper Gary Poole no chance. In the second half South Park Rangers pressed and a well deserved equaliser came when a ball was knocked forward to Graham Watson who beat the Mandale offside trap to unleash a powerful shot past Gary Poole. Mandale took the game to South Park Rangers and were rewarded when a well-taken corner was delivered into the six-yard area only to find the Rangers goalkeeper dropping the ball for Mandale to tap in. The Thornaby team put the game beyond all doubt when a similarly scored goal made the full time score 2-4.
