Harrogate Squash suffered their fifth defeat of the season in the First Division.

They went down 2-1 to top-of-the-table Adel, who have suffered just one defeat.

Harrogate are now third from bottom, the only bright spot of their setback against Adel was the clear cut victory at first string by Adam Nowakowski who defeated Mark Ambler 9-4 9-6 9-6.

Adel secured a victory which netted them nine points, putting them six points ahead of Chapel Allerton at the head of the table.

Adel's Sean Fleming defeated Nicola Pratt 9-4 10-8 7-9 7-9 9-5 while Jon Hodgson beat Stuart Macdonald 9-3 7-9 9-5 7-9 9-6 to seal the win.

After the match it was revealed that Adel will be without Sean Fleming for the rest of the season because of a carilage injury.

Meanwhile Harrogate Squash II went down 2-1 at home to Chapel Allerton.

Chapel team boss Ian Cawthorne hit back to defeat Harrogate's Simon Myring in a battle of two Yorkshire Premiership players 1-9 10-8 9-6 10-8 in a pivotal victory.

* Emerging North Yorkshire squash star Jenny Duncalf has won her first Women's International Squash Players' Association title, beating fellow English player Vicky Botwright 3-2 in the final of the Atlanta Open in America.

Duncalf, whose stepfather is Harrogate-based England Squash coach David Pearson, is currently world ranked 22. But with recent stunning results she is expected to be nudging a top 10 place in the new world rankings.

The 20-year-old completed her A level studies at Harrogate Grammar School before launching herself on to the world stage, shooting up the rankings from well below the 100 mark. She has been playing professionally for more than 18 months.
