It was League Cup day and the youngsters of Darlington GSOB put up a strong fight before going out 4-0 to Darlington Archdeacon.
The first half was tight with neither side getting the upper hand. The deadlock was broken when Matthew Jones put the 'Deacon ahead and play was even until hour when Old Boys were awarded a penalty which was saved by Mike Thraves. This knocked the youngsters and 'Deacon went on to add goals from James Howlett, Chris Jordan and Peter Cody.
At Stillington, Shildon Elm Road WMC made good use of the strong wind to go in at the break 5-1 up with all their goals coming from the mid-field players, unfortunate for the home side The Royal, they didn't have the pleasure of the wind in the second half as it had died down, both sides managed to net only once in the second to leave the final score 6-2 to Elm Road.
Chilton Community College made a great second half comeback against Darlington Travellers Rest who had taken the first half to lead 3-1 and go through 4-3, Dave Tate led the comeback for College from midfield hitting a brace, the other two goals came via Craig Chapman and Carl Hanley.
In the league Hurworth Emerson Arms got their game together for a good second half display to defeat Darlington Stadia 5-1, there wasn't a lot between the sides in the first period with Emerson going in with a 2-1 advantage. James Edwards was on target with a hat-trick, Neil Bell and Jonathan Edwards rounded off their scoring, Lee Hammond was again the target man with Stadias' consolation.
Darlington Dalesman were let down for their visit to Tindale WMC and kicked off with only nine players, they did make it ten for the second half. They were given credit by their opponents for not giving up for the ninety minutes although they were beaten 9-0. Gary Whitticker hit three with a couple going to brother Peter, one apiece went to Ashley Wilson, Mark Smith, Andrew Fairley and Billy Latcham.
