Croft Circuit near Darlington plays host to the second and final round of the BARC Winter Series tomorrow when the competitors converge on the track for a seven race programme.
Originally scheduled to be the opening round of the two round series for Formula Renault UK, Elf Clio Renaultsport UK and BARC Sports and Saloons, the calendar was revised to incorporate an existing race meeting at Donington Park last weekend meaning that Croft would then host the finale.
2003 ELF Clio Renaultsport UK teams are predicting the best-ever supported winter series to be fought out at Croft giving them plenty of time to prepare budgets and to attract potential drivers over the forthcoming months.
Leading team Aurok Motorsport's Jules Phillips said: "The winter championship is fantastic news and I'm very happy with the decision to have a one day, two race format. We see it as a key step towards next season and with the series taking place at Croft and Donington drivers will be able to get a very good taste of the Clio Cup at two of the country's best circuits."
Meanwhile Formula Renault UK has proved again this season that it is undoubtedly the world's most exciting junior single-seater championships, launching the careers of the likes of current McLaren F1 driver Kimi Raikkonen.
At Croft, competitors will be divided into two groups with the top ten in each ten lap race in the morning making to the final. Drivers will, however be given a 'final chance' to qualify in a repocharge for the fifteen lap final which will be the last race of the day at around 15.45.
Prior to that, the popular Sports and Saloons cars will take to the track for their ten lap challenge race and with the popular NSSCC contenders expected to be out in force, it should make for a great spectacle.
Practice gets underway at 9am with the first race scheduled for 10.45am. Adult admission is £6 with accompanied children 15 years and under admitted free.
