Nick Millar didn't find any time to count the tulips on his recent visit to Amsterdam.

He set a new club record for the Marathon (over 45 age group) of 2:52:24, smashing his previous best time by 10 minutes, finishing 142nd out of 3527 competitors.

Four club members made the trip to Carlisle for the "Great Cumbrian Run" half marathon. First home for the club and 4th overall out of 779 runners was Alasdair Tatham in a time of 1:12:59, closely followed by Ian Scott 1:17:02, 13th, who won the over 50 prize. Nick Millar won the second over 45 prize in a time of 1:20:24 to finish 21st and bringing up the rear in a time of 1:42:03 to finish 304th was John (Geordie) Ross.

The Richmond Castle 10K was attended by 14 club members on what turned out to be a miserable wet and hilly course. First home for the club and 2nd overall out of 358 runners was Alasdair Tatham in a time of 34:42, he was followed by Ian Scott 37:16, 14th, once again winning the first over 50 prize. Dawn Richardson was first lady home for the club, 4th lady and 55th overall to finish in a time of 41:39. John Edmondson 43:46, 89th, Phil Rutter 44:03, 95th, Peter Smith 45:35, 116th, David Thompson 47:19, 138th, Stephen Buckle 47:47, 142nd Brenden Boyle 54:43, 251st, Harry Manuel 57:00, 275th, Sharon Towns 1:02:51, 322nd, Sue Boyle 1:02:53, 323rd, Vanessa Treston 1:04:50, 333rd, and last but by no means least Wendy Glasper 1:08:30, 348th.

The next Durham Dales Fell Race will be held on Sunday, 2 November. Ayhope Skyline consists of 2155 feet over 9 miles in Hamsterley Forest. Registration and start is from the Grove car park. GR 067 299. The course will be partially marked. Over 18's only for the main race. Start time is 11.00 am. Entry fee £4.50 (includes forest tolls and parking). A 2 mile Junior Fell Race will be held at 11:15 am.
