YOUNGSTERS have been given the chance to make their own horror movies during a week-long film festival.
The festival has been run by arts charity, Rural Arts, in conjunction with the Ritz Cinema, in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. About half of the 25 children involved made an animated film, while the rest made a horror movie using a derelict building as their backdrop.
Angela Hall, director of Rural Arts, said: "The children are so enthusiastic. We can't get them out of the building on a night because they are completely absorbed in what they are doing."
On hand to show the children the techniques involved were six film-makers, including experts in animation, directing and set building.
Two films will be produced at the end of the week, both with a horror and Halloween theme.
They will be shown at the Ritz Cinema in two weeks time, once they have been edited.
