Goldsborough v Gt Ayton: o30 minutes Goldsborough opened the scoring, Marsay finding himself on the edge of the penalty area turned well and stepped past the defender to shoot past the Ayton keeper, Clements.
Goldsborough then began to look the better side and increased their lead ten minutes later as poor defending allowed a one on one situation with Clements gave Welford the chance to calmly slot the ball home. On the stroke of half time Ayton snatched a goal back when a free kick by Hunton was well flighted across the Goldsborough defence for Hyde to bundle the ball over the line. At the start of the second half the home side went straight on the attack, a long ball over the Ayton defence found Jemson, who ran on to strike his shot past the diving Clements. During the latter stages Ayton piled on the pressure, a well placed shot from Simpson found Busby, who headed narrowly wide.
A double substitution by the visitors brought Leng and Davey into the game. Leng immediately set up Busby for a strike on goal, Sanderson had to be at his best to push the ball away for a corner. Leng took the corner finding Davey, who headed past Sanderson to bring Ayton back into the game. After losing one of their players Goldsborough found themselves under siege and with a minute to go Murray found the equaliser to give Ayton a share of the points, having chased the game throughout.
Grosmont v Hinderwell
Hinderwell's run of good form continued with a scrappy victory over a dogged Grosmont, who at times more than matched the away team. Hinderwell opened the scoring after 20 minutes, Jones cooly finishing from a Robinson through ball. Although the football was not as fluent as in previous weeks, Hinderwell's final passing was of the highest quality, Sivills adding two more goals from excellent crosses. Hinderwell defender, Sussons, surged the length of the field to lay on a second goal for Jones then Clennan netted the best goal of the match with a fine 20 yard shot. Grosmont continued to press and were finally rewarded with a consolation goal in the dying minutes after a lapse of concentration by the Hinderwell defence. Hinderwell have now gone four matches without defeat, scoring 18 goals in the process.
Lingdale Tavern v Whitby Fishermen
After initial Whitby pressure Lingdale got to grips with their game and took the lead when Neil Calvert won the ball in midfield and played Shane Breckon in, his shot took a deflection to beat the unlucky Harland in the Whitby goal. Whitby kept attacking and only another good save by Moore kept a Roldans goal bound effort out. Whitby found an equaliser when Martin played Wood in behind the Lingdale defence for him to round the keeper and put the ball into an empty net. With both defences playing well the score remained level at the break. Lingdale made changes at half as injured Dane Breckon made way for Wright, returning after a two month injury. As Lingdale began to setle it was Wright who crossed to Ball in the box for him to scramble the ball into the net. Lingdale full backs, Fowle and Wright began going forward, causing problems for Whitby. When Anderson slipped in the box and handled the ball Breckon made no mistake from the spot to take Lingdale further ahead Breckon then completed his hattrick after Ball played him through. With Whitby deflated they failed to pick up the pace leaving Lingdale to control the rest of the game.
Loftus Ath v Redcar Mackinlay Park
In a match sponsored by M/B Lyndsey, Loftus defeated Mackinlay Park to move into contention at the top. After a nervy 15 minutes for both sides a stunning free kick from Brewer gave Loftus the lead. The home side then settled, Wilson took them further ahead for a deserved 2-0 lead at the break. After a slow start from Loftus at the beginning of the second half Mendum pulled a goal back for Mackinlay Park after a defensive error. Loftus made a double substitution and with ten minutes remaining sub, Verrill made it 3-1 to clinch the points.
Stakesby Arms v Highlan Laddie
In an ill tempered affair Highland Laddie came out winners. Laddie's first goal came from Lowther and by half time they were four ahead, a Combellack goal ten minutes later and a second from Kandell in the 40th minute. In the second half Burns volleyed home after a corner and Rye netted twice while the young Stakesby side were outplayed by the more experienced Laddie, they battled hard.
League Cup
Annandale Hotel v Lingdale Utd
Annnandale crashed out of the League Cup despite leading for most of the game. In a close fought game, played in difficult conditions, Lingdale made the early running but it was Annandale who went in front, Bell finishing calmly from the edge of the area. Lingdale hit back but found Hogarth in the home goal in fine form, tipping a swerving effort over the bar. Both sides went close but Annandale went into the break with the one goal advantage. Lingdale went straight on the attack after the break but the Annandale defence held firm with Fairbank outstanding. However the hosts found themselves defending deeper and deeper and with 15 minutes to go Lingdale were awarded a penalty which Woodall converted to level the score. With the game heading to extra time a goalmouth scramble led to Sleeman's shot trickling over the line past a despairing Hogarth and putting the visitors through to the next round.
