A SAFE fireworks display is being repeated next week after a successful trial run last year.
Committee members at Annfield Plain Cricket Club were overwhelmed by the response to their first organised bonfire, staged at short notice without publicity.
Word of mouth alone helped to attract more than 1,000 to the club's Enterprise Park ground.
A repeat event is planned for Wednesday next week, or Thursday if the weather is bad. Steve Sowden, one of the organising committee, said: "We've lined up a 75-minute display of fireworks with background music. It's fully supervised and professionally-run so people should have no fears about safety."
The bonfire will be lit at 7.15pm and the fireworks start at around 7.30pm. Admission is £1 per person (no concessions for children), with burgers, soft and alcoholic drinks and other refreshments on offer.
