Swimmers off all ages from Billingham Swimming Club were competing at the weekend.

Three competitors qualified for the Master's Championships held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. All had excellent swims competing in the 40/44 year category. Guy Fawkes with three top eight places came 5th in the 1500m and 800m free and 8th in the 400m free, his other swims being 100m and 200m free.

Shirley Fawkes with all high places came 9th in the 800m free also swimming 100m, 200m and 400m free.

Mark Wilson with an 8th place in the 800m free also swam the 200m free.

Helen Muscroft in her age category gained sixth place in the 20 free, her other swims were 100m back and free all were personal bests.

The juniors travelled to Harrogate to compete at the Hydro. They all performed brilliantly and a total of 15 medals were won with 41 personal bests out of 64 swims accomplished.

9 year old Stephanie Blakeburn was jubilant with four medals, a silver in the 50m back, two bronze in the 50m and 200m free and a 7th in the 100m I.M., her other swims were 50m breast and fly.

Ten-year-old Emma Shepherd swam 50m breast, fly, back and free, 100m I.M. also 200m breast, free and back.

Three 11-year-olds competed. Anthony Brown was in superb form successfully gaining medals in all his swims. Silver in the 50m fly, bronze in the 200m back, 4th place in the 50m back and 100m free, 5th in the 50m free and two 6th place medals in the 50m breast and 100m I.M.

Gareth Allen swam 50m back and fly also 100m free. Harriet Goodman competed in the 50m breast, back and free and 100m free and I.M.

Twelve-year-old Bradley Dixon was triumphant with four medals to his credit he gained a silver in the 200m back, 5th in the 50m fly, 6th in the 100m free and 50m back.

With a strong field of 13 year olds, five swimmers competed all with brilliant swims. Joanne Longster came 8th in the 200m back, her other swims being 50m back and fly and 100m free.

Charlotte Brown did 50m breast, free, 100m free and 200m breast, Lisa Sheehan did above and 50m back, 100m I.M. 50 fly, Pippa and Jessica did all the above swims also 200m back. All the masters competing achieved PBs.
