Division One, Carlin How 2, BEADS FC 1: Carlin How took an early lead, Steve Starsmore' s run at the BEADS defence was halted by a trip by Craig Bishop on the edge of the visitors penalty box.
Starsmore stepped up to fire home from twenty five yard into the bottom corner for the opening goal, the visitors struck back an made it 1-1 when a long cross from Andy Bowman looked to be no danger, but Craig Tyreman in the Carlin How goal came out to punch it clear, but missed it leaving David Birks at the back post who dummied the bemused defender and made it 1-1 going into the half time break. In the second half the battle was in midfield with little given away from both teams and a number of fouls started to get a bit naughty but the referee calmed thing down and the teams started to try and play better football, the home side had a slice of good fortune in the 72nd minute when a shot by Starsmore from fifteen yards seemed to be well covered by stand in keeper Barney Malone who was diving to his right, but Craig Blyth got his head in the way and diverted it past his keeper into the other corner of the net to give the home side a 2-1 lead The visitors pressed forward but Tyreman in the home side goal was well up to what was thrown at him and in the last two minutes from a Carlin How break a penalty was awarded and Starsmore steeped up only to have the penalty saved by Malone, but the referee ordered the kick to be retaken as the keeper had come of his line, but Starsmore second penalty was again saved by Malone but to no avail as there was no more time left in the match and Carlin How move up into 5th place, BEADS dropped down two.
Fishburn Park 0, Richmond Town 0
Fishburn Park and Richmond Town had to battle a strong wind as well as each other at the weekend, Fishburn as one would expect being the home side showed more and Jimmy Simpson had a header brilliantly saved by the visitors keeper in a match of few chances, Richmond were pushed back after a goalless first half and were again indebted to their keeper when saved well at the feet of Duncan Marson, but it remained goalless throughout and the visitors travelled all the way home with a hard earned point.
Thornaby YC 5, Nunthorpe Ath 0
Thornaby Youth Club consolidate fourth place after this win over Nunthorpe Athletic, the Youth Club unbeaten now in four matches, took a narrow 1-0 lead after Darren Fixture scored after sixteen minutes, Gareth Waite added the second after thirty-five, 2-0 the half time score line. A minute into the second half Fixture was on target again to make the game safe at 3-0, and Chris Wrathmall with his 4th of the season made it 4-0 before Paul Irish added the fifth to secure the points late on in the match.
Division Two
Billingham Wndrs 3, Dormans FC 4
Billingham Wanderers entertained league leaders Dormans who remain the only club in the second division to remain unbeaten. The wanderers shocked the visitors by taking the lead through Andrew Moorhead after twenty-five minutes, but Dormans quickly struck back to equalise and then take the lead with tow goals from Chris Fuller before half time. In the second half the home side pressed forward leaving themselves exposed at the back and Michael Stangoe made it 3-1, Billingham then fought back and John Cairns scored twice in three minutes to make it all level at 3-3 before James McGowan with his 9th of the season secured the win for the visitors.
Darlington CB 3, Whinney Banks 3
Darlington Cleveland Bridge entertained basement club Whinney Banks who shocked their hosts by taking a 2-0 lead after only ten minutes through Craig Owens first two goals for his new club, Cleveland Bridge pulled a goal back five minutes before half time through Wayne King to make it 2-1 at half time. Five minutes into the second half Whinney Banks regained their two gaol lead when John Blamires made it 3-2, but five minutes later Darlington Cleveland Bridge struck back to make it 3-2 when Stuart Hardy scored his 4th of the season, the home side pressed forward but well left exposed at the back, the visitors had a couple of chances but failed to take them and with only three minutes remaining Cleveland Bridge rescued a point when Chris Airey scored his 5th of the season to make it a 3-3 draw.
Darlington SRM 3, North Ormesby 2
Darlington Simpson Rolling Mills took an early lead through John Myers, who was later named as man of the match for the home side, North Ormesby drew level four minutes later when Andy Mallaby with his first of the season made it 1-1, with five minutes remaining of the first half the home side snatched the lead again when Ross Ainsley scored to give the home side a 21 lead at half time. In the second half the home side seemed to be in control of the game but in the 58th minute Lee Sykes with his first of the season made it 2-2, although the Darlington side had good possession the match seemed to be drifting to a 2-2 draw until man of the match Myers struck what turned out to be the winner for the home side with his second of the game and 3rd of the season.
Guisb Town Res 2, D'ton RA Res 4
Darlington RA Reserves took the lead through Ross Wetherell in the 33rd minute, the only goal of the first half. In the second half the Guisborough side pressed forward but were caught out with a sucker punch in the 52nd minute when Wetherell scored his second of the match and 5th of the season, Darren Kokes ten made it 3-0 on the hour, before new signing Steve Cardwell coming on as a 61st minute substitute scored four minutes into this debut to give his new team mates a glimmer of hope, but Kokes then gave the visitors a 4-1 lead in the 73rd minute with his 8th of the season before Cardwell scored his second of the match five minutes later to make it a final score of 4-2.
