ELLIE the Bear entertained new born babies in Stockton yesterday before presenting a £1,000 cheque to midwives.
The bear visited the University Hospital of North Tees to present the money, raised by staff at broadband communication company ntl. The money will be used to help care for sick and premature babies at the hospital's neo-natal unit.
Unit manager Barbara Harrison said: "I have no doubt that it will go some way towards helping us to further strengthen services."
Ntl staff raised the money with a variety of activities, including casual clothes days when everyone paid £1 to wear what they liked at work.
