A LIBRARY welcomed its biggest bookworm yesterday when a 13ft python visited.
Spiders and other creepy crawlies were at the Clayport Library in Durham, as part of a Halloween event for children.
The star of the show was a 13ft 6in python, belonging to North-East amateur herpetologist John College. Visitors were able to handle the creatures and learn about the animals.
Library staff had been given a preview earlier in the week, when Mr College took the creatures to the centre so staff could get used to them.
The creepy crawly visit was part of a range of activities organised for youngsters during the half-term holidays in Durham.
They end today with a free story-telling session for all ages at the library at 11am and a craft session at 2pm, where youngsters over six can create dream catchers.
