ORIGINAL artwork from a 1920s and 1930s advertising campaign has gone on show in the region.
The posters were created for fuel supplier Shell by some of Britain's most famous contemporary artists.
In the 1920s, Paul Nash and Tom Gentleman helped create posters of stylised images of British landmarks and landscapes, with symbols of modern life left out to create an idealised view of rural Britain.
In the 1930s, the campaign focused on the range of people who used Shell products, from farmers to theatre-goers and police officers, who were portrayed by leading artists such as Ben Nicholson and Edward Ardizonne.
Now the artwork has gone on show at Durham Light Infantry Museum and Durham Art Gallery, at Aykley Heads, in its People Prefer to Visit Britain exhibition.
The exhibition runs until December 7.
